This 1st September was no ordinary. On this first day of school since the H1N1 Influenza outbreak, various preventive measures were taken. Teachers gave us a warm welcome and took our temperature right in front of the school gate. Thanks to everyoneˇ¦s effort, we started the school year safely.
The term- beginning service was definitely inspiring. The speech given by our Supervisor, Mr. Lai Kam Cheung, J.P., reminded us this year is also the first year of the 3- 3- 4 curriculum. He showed his confidence that we can overcome the problems ahead and together create a even better learning environment. Mr. Lai also shared his views about the controversial drug- testing scheme. He assured us that consensus would be made among students, parents and teachers before taking any actions. He closed his speech by announcing that this year would also be the last school year for our principal, Mr. Kam Chi Fan, who is going to retire. As the Chinese saying goes, ˇ§Every banquet has to endˇ¨. We gave a big round of applause to Mr Kam for his dedication to MST in the past 35 years, and hoped that he would enjoy his retirement life.
In the Prize Presentation session, more than a hundred of students were awarded the Excellent Conduct Award for their impressive performance in the last school year. The most aspiring moment came when two scholarship receivers shared their experience in striking a balance between studies and voluntary work. Their achievement again proves that MST students are all- round. In addition, their sharing encouraged others to work harder to achieve in both schoolwork and social services.
Finally, the ceremony ended in joy. And this started the new school term. Let's hope for a fruitful school year!
