SU Election 2005

School has already started for 2 weeks, and all kinds of elections have already taken place. Among all those elections, the Student Union election is undoubtedly the most exciting one. This year, we had two cabinets competing, namely Motivation and Monaqua.

Just as usual, both candidates put all their effort on advertising. Campaign posters were posted on the pillars, and souvenirs were given to students. Though these strategies were costly , it did really help the candidates to gain popularity. For instance, Motivation seemed to have received more support from senior students, while Monaqua was more likely to have supported by junior students, especially those from Form 1.

Some MST students said whoever gets the largest amount of votes from Form 1 would win. And once again, it's proved. Monaqua won by nearly 300 votes and became our student union this year. Maybe the candidates next year should really focus on the junior classes if they want to win the election. Anyway, let's hope Monaqua will try their best and do what they promised.

**Reporter's View**

For six years the writer has observed, students tend to vote for the team with better advertising rather than a better platform. This phenomenon is not so healthy for an election. Maybe it's time for students to look closer to what candidates would do and think sensibly.
