The lowest temperature in Tai Po was 9¢XC on 16 and 17 January. However, it was everyone's great passion that thawed our cold Sports Day.
Introducing the true meaning of the word "Sports", our vice principal Mrs. Lam spurred all of us to enjoy the games on the opening ceremony: "S" for spirit, "P" for potential, "O" for organization, "R" for race, "T" for training and the last "S" for support. Also, the principal Mr. Kam led us to sing our school song. With everybody's loud and beautiful voice, the Sports Day began.
Taking their jackets off and tying their boots up, the athletes were ready to reach for their stars. Some participated in running while others joined field events like long jump, shot put, high jump and javelin throw. Heats by heats, students and teachers clapped and cheered for every single champion and flyer.
In the stadium, every house committee member was being very busy on those two days. They decorated well in their own column, encouraged others to cheer and clap and even some of them would like to help the athletes to do massaging and relaxing, too! The committee members really help a lot to maintain a good atmosphere to the sports day.
Aside from the active participation of the athletes and the committee members, our Principal and teachers also joined some of the events as well, such as 3000 meters race and game. Watching their events, every student gained much support to them and shouted out their slogans loudly. At that moment, the mood seemed to be pushed to the climax of the sports day! Everyone enjoyed that moment very much!
For the cheering team, they had prepared for more than two weeks. Indeed, the Cheering team is not a small potato. They took a vital part in Sports Day to maintain the exciting atmosphere. They not only needed to prepare for the dance, but also for the props they used on Sports Day. They all yelled their watchwords in the stadium; this showed their team spirit.
Time passed really fast. Finally, we had the prize giving ceremony, The Wisdom House is our 2008 Super Winner. They won the Boys A and B Grade Championship and also the Overall Championship. Anyway, the houses, which did not win many prizes, are neither weak nor lazy. They still paid their utmost effort to perform well in every athletic event. All of our MST-ers are so proud of that. Eventually, the other houses also need to try their best to strive for excellence next year!!
