Fun Fair 2004-2005

We did what we promised in the slogan, "Together we rejoice, up high we fly!" in the 30th anniversary activities held on 29th and 30th January.

On these two days, the 30th Anniversary Fun Fair was held. There were a lot of programs prepared for visitors to join. At the school hall, a music contest was held. On the first day, students played different musical instruments to compete for the championship. Then, on the second day, students who had won 2 preliminary rounds reached the knockout stage, and sang their favorite songs individually or with their partners to compete for the championship of singing.

A talent show is the most popular program in many schools' open days and fun fairs, and the MST fun fair was not an exception. At the playground, four talent shows with different performances were held at different times. With students as hosts, old boys and girls and different societies were invited to perform. The programs were diversified. For example, there were judo, dancing, playing musical instruments, singing and even magic shows. All performances were awarded with a big applause.

To let visitors know more about our school was another goal we wanted to achieve. So, exhibitions of students' extra-curricular activities and achievements were a must. On those two days, there was an exhibition at the Students' Activities Centre. Some students stayed there to be hosts and gave a brief introduction to the visitors. They all had joined the activities shown in the exhibition. For example, there were the student reporters of Mingpao, the members of CYC, the winners of different competitions, etc. Naturally, the achievements of our students and the friendly smile of our student hosts attracted a lot of primary school students and parents to visit. After that, they all greatly appreciated our school, not only because of our achievements, but also because of the friendly attitude of our students.

Games are the easiest way to have fun so, the main part of the fun fair was the "Game Stalls". On those two days, students from different societies such as Christian Fellowship, Drama Club, Art Club, etc. prepared 22 games stalls at the playground for visitors to play. Once the visitors stepped into our school, they were attracted by the colourful games stalls and naturally lined up to play. All game stalls were decorated beautifully and the games were very interesting. If they had won a game, they would be given a chop. Then, they could get gifts from the counter in the playground. In addition, there was a prize for the most popular game stall. This prize was a catalyst for the atmosphere of the fun fair as all in-charge students competed for the votes from visitors. Some of them gave balloons to visitors or dressed up as cartoon characters. Through these, the excitement of the fun fair became greater and greater.

Besides the events that have already been mentioned, there were selling of souvenirs and snacks held by the Student Union. Nearly all visitors were attracted to buy some and the selling was a great success. Actually, the 30th Anniversary celebration through the form of the Fun Fair have made a good example for other schools' anniversary celebrations and all students are waiting for the coming 40th Anniversary celebration.
