23 rd February and 24th February were two big days for all students and teachers in our school. Having waited for The English Enhancement Day for one year, we were really anxious to challenge ourselves again, using English to talk and play for the whole school day. In short, the school was filled with :English energy;. This is definitely a valuable and unforgettable experience for us.
During the recess and the lunchtime, it was not difficult for us to hear some English conversations in the corridor. There were many students chatting in English with our school ambassadors, English ambassadors, librarians, prefects and teachers. With their active participation, chatting in English was no longer difficult or weird. As English ambassadors, we even found chatting in English a kind of fun. Indeed, it provided a valuable opportunity for us to improve our spoken English. Lots of students chatted happily and we were really pleased to see that. We enjoyed the .Shall We Chat・ sessions very much. Do you feel the same ?
As before, we had a drama performance this year. The show was humorous. One special thing was that it is not a classic one but a realistic story that is set in a school. The performers showed us how exciting and difficult the job of teaching English through drama would be against the backdrop of a well-established school in Hong Kong. Even the term :NSS; was mentioned. We all learnt while enjoying the show. Moreover, some of our students were invited to the stage to have a drama competition. It will be difficult for us to forget our lucky schoolmates・ hilarious facial expressions of anger or happiness. The atmosphere in the hall was totally ecstatic. However, don・t forget that all these were parts of a realistic and educational show.
Everyone will agree that the name :PlayStation; is inviting. Indeed, it was the name of our game session, which invited a lot of students to come and play different kinds of games on our E.E. Day. Many clubs set up counters at the covered playground, including Mathematics Club, Conservancy Club, Current Affairs Club, English Society, S3 Enhancement Group and Science Society. Indeed, answering questions about current affairs by throwing a ball at a board is a unique experience!
Our E.E. Day would have been incomplete without the song dedication sessions and the book display, which gave us extra precious chances to enhance our English through listening to songs and reading good books.
Certainly, The English Enhancement Day provides a good platform for practising daily use of English and we enjoy it. We can・t wait to see it happen again next year.
