The "Eggs Falling" competition organized by the Science Society took
place on November 17, after school. On that day, about 60 students joined the competition.
Each group was given a pair of scissors, a plastic bag, newspapers, cloth, chopsticks,
sippers, some sponge and of course, an egg. They had to use these materials to make a setup
to protect the eggs so that they would not break after being dropped from heights.
Any flaws on the egg would make them lose the game.
The competitors first gathered in the Geography Room and make their setup. In the first
round, eggs were dropped to the car-parking
area in front of the female changing room from the corridor outside the office. Several eggs
survived and they were brought to a higher floor and dropped again. After the second round, fewer eggs survived and again they were brought to a higher floor.
This process was repeated until the winner came out. Finally, group 4 students from 4B became the winner. It was so amazing that their
parachute-like setup could be dropped from the fifth floor without bringing any damage to the egg. The winner
had successfully applied the scientific theories to their design. Congratulations!
The "Eggs Falling" competition was so exciting. Hope that similar events will be held again soon.
