We had an exciting week in late March. The Book Festival, which is held every year around March and April, is one of the big functions of MST every year. The activity aims at arousing students' interests in reading.
We have made a huge success this year with the help of our school library, the Chinese and English Departments and for sure, all of you.
I am sure no one can forget the hilarious PA programme made up of a few well-known fairytales, which first announced the details of the event. Later on, during the festival, we had the usual activities, such as Reading Forum, Book Exhibitions, Book report and ex-libris exhibitions and talk by author.
I was the host for the first of the four Reading Forums. Although the downpour has set us back a little, our sharing about our favorite books captured the audience’s attention and they enjoyed the event. Some of our teachers shared their opinions on their favorites in the other three forums. For me, the most unforgettable one must be the one that starred our three new female teachers, since they spoke Japanese, French and Mandarin during their interviews by Mr. Hung.
The Book Exhibitions attracted masses; one of the reasons behind was the "vote for your favorites" activity. Students are allowed to vote for the books they found interesting and the books that gained the maximum votes will be on the buying list of our school library.
The spotlights to the junior students were definitely the Story-telling Competition and the Reading QA Competition. As one of the audience in the latter event, I could feel the pleasure of the students when their classmates won a prize or answered a question correctly. I enjoyed both competitions as much as the juniors did, as all of the candidates devoted themselves to the competitions no matter if they would win a prize or not.
Please be reminded that there will be two reading talks during both junior and senior assemblies on 24th April. Pay attention to the talks and show your support to us.
We hope our Book Festival next year will gain as much appreciation as this year.
